DCI Now Investigating Prostitutes-For-Pipelines Allegations

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is checking allegations that an agent working for a pipeline company offered to hire a prostitute for a landowner if he would allow access to his land.

The 61-year-old Lee County landowner, Hughie Tweedy, has said he has recorded proof that the agent made the offer.

The proposed underground pipeline would carry 450,000 barrels daily from production sites in North Dakota to a hub in Illinois.

Division of Criminal Investigation spokesman Alex Murphy told The Des Moines Register that his agency was asked by the Lee County attorney to join an investigation.

The company, Energy Transfer Partners, has said it is investigating the allegation about the agent, who the company said was working for a contractor.
