The Snake Alley Criterium on Saturday was one to remember. It was one of the closest finishes in race history in the men’s pro division as Christopher Uberti of South Carolina edged out Australian Chris Winn by merely two inches to take the championship title.

Winn had led Uberti for most of the race, up until the last lap.

“We were working well together the entire time, and we both put in little attacks on the hill, so we knew it was going to come down to a sprint,” Uberti told KBUR, “It was just a drag race.”

It was Uberti’s fifth Snake Alley Criterium, but his first win. He called it the best criterium in the midwest.

“This is a Midwest Classic…there is no other race out there like this,” said Uberti.
