A Burlington woman led police on a chase through town on Monday after failing to stop at a stop sign.

18 year old Alexandra Malnar allegedly chose to speed off when police attempted to pull her over after witnessing the traffic violation. After the chase speeds exceeded 25 miles over the speed limit, police broke off pursuit.

Shortly afterwards, staff at Kenny’s Roller Ranch just south of Crapo Park reported that a woman stopped her car in near the business and took off running towards Crapo Park, where she was found discovered. Upon seeing police approach on foot, Malnar allegedly ran again from the police, but was apprehended and arrested.

Malnar told police she ran because she was “scared”. Malnar allegedly struck two road signs, one in the 500 block of Harrison, and the other on the corner of Madison and Koeftner, after police had already broken off pursuit.

Malnar is charged with eluding police, interference with official acts, careless driving, striking a fixture on a highway, and failure to obey a stop sign.
