The man accused of shooting and killing another man, allegedly over a game of dice, is asking the Des Moines County Court to allow his underage children to visit him in jail.

43 year old Maurice Green filed a handwritten, pro se motion, with proper formatting and all, asking the court to allow his 6 year old son and 3 month old daughter visitation rights while he awaits trial on a count of first-degree murder.

Green has been jailed since mid-April on $2 million bond after authorities say he shot Matthew “Murda” Banks to death at a home on Jefferson Street, following a disagreement over a dice game.

Green writes in his motion, “The defendant feels, to be taken out of his childrens lives, for a long period of time (6-12 months), will really damage the father-child bond he has, especially with his 3 month old daughter.”

According to court documents, Assistant County Attorney Ty Rogers filed a resistance against Green’s motion.

Green filed a separate motion, asking for a change in venue for his trial away from Des Moines County Court, arguing that media attention to his case could cause bias in the jury. Rogers also filed a resistance against this motion.
