One person is dead following a Thursday morning accident in Mount Pleasant.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says that at around 6:00 am, Emergency crews responded to the area of Goodyear road and 235th Street. Upon arrival, emergency crews found 20 year old Donald Randall of Wayland, Missouri, dead on the scene. Randall was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 19 year old Austin Burgess of Keokuk that apparently ran a stop sign in the foggy weather and collided with a pickup truck driven by 53 year old George Aplara of Fairfield.

Randall was not wearing a seatbelt. Both Burgess and Aplara were transported to Henry County Health Center.

Conflicting reports led to us previously reporting that another person died at the hospital following the accident. This was in error.
