A former Burlington city councilman and photographer accused of sexually abusing several teenage girls has been released on bond.

Des Moines County Correctional Officials confirmed to KBUR Monday afternoon that 40 year old Christopher King posted bond and was released at around 2:40 pm Monday. His release comes after a friday decision by judge William Dowell that reduced 40-year-old Chris King’s bond from $83,500 to $42,000.

King was arrested in early May on several counts, including sexual abuse, indecent exposure and providing alcohol to a minor.

Police say they have identified more than three dozen girls between the ages of 13 and 18 who have said they were molested by King. In most of the cases, police say, King met the girls through his photography studio, offered them alcohol, then drove them to remote areas in the county where they were attacked.

King served on the Burlington City Council from 2002 to 2005.
