A former Burlington city councilman and photographer accused of sexually abusing several teenage girls has had his bond reduced.

Court records indicate that judge William Dowell reduced 40-year-old Chris King’s bond from $83,500 to $42,000 cash bond on Friday.

King was arrested in early May on several counts, including sexual abuse, indecent exposure and providing alcohol to a minor.

Police say they have identified more than three dozen girls between the ages of 13 and 18 who have said they were molested by King. In most of the cases, police say, King met the girls through his photography studio, offered them alcohol, then drove them to remote areas in the county where they were attacked.

King served on the Burlington City Council from 2002 to 2005.

He’s still in the Des Moines County Jail as of 6:30 Monday Morning.
