A man arrested for domestic assault allegedly spat on a Des Moines County Correctional Officer while being booked in the County Jail on Wednesday.
Burlington Police first responded to an incident on highway 34 at mile marker 262 at around 5:26 am, where they found 20 year old Dakota Poland arguing with a juvenile girl in the grassy highway median. Upon police arrival, Poland allegedly took off running and was eventually apprehended in the 2200 block of Burlington Avenue. Police say he was intoxicated.
The juvenile girl told police she was assaulted by Poland.
Upon arrival at the Des Moines County Jail, Poland allegedly spat on a correctional officer, adding Assault on a Peace Officer to a list of charges that also include Public Intoxication and Assaunt Causing Bodily Injury.
