Burlington is getting ready to spend over $1 million for improvements to the city’s 14 parks starting next fiscal year.

Development and Parks Director Eric Tysland spoke to the Burlington City Council on Monday.

“Some of the needs [include] updated amenities because many of our parks are in core areas of town that were set up a long time ago. A lot of those amenities are aging and we’re working to update those,” Tysland said.

About $531,000 will be set aside for park maintenance and $380,000 for forestry operations.

Burlington has about 400 acres of park land.
