Possible Tornado Touches Down in Mercer County as Storms Sweep Region

More Storms causing headaches throughout the area.

Parts of Des Moines County were hit with about an inch of rain last night. The storms last night were less severe than those that blew through the area on Wednesday night, but still caused a Tornado Watch to be issued for McDonough County in Illinois.

Storms were more severe around the Quad cities area. A possible tornado might have touched down in rural Mercer County, two miles outside of Reynolds, Illinois. Damage in that area was consistent with a tornado that was indicated on radar around 5:30 pm.

The listening area was under a flood warning in the early morning hours. That’s since been lifted. Burlington Police say that some standing floodwater accumulated near the main street exit ramp on Highway 34. Iowa DOT has been notified but the ramp is still open.
