US Women’s Soccer Team Beats Columbia, Burlington Beats Davenport Central

In the Women’s Soccer World Cup the United States Squad took down Columbia last night to advance in the tournament, winning 2-0 in the Round of 16. They’ll face the squad from China on Friday.

Prep Softball, Burlington shut out Davenport Central in a Doubleheader winning 12-nothing and 17-nothing to improve to 14-11 on the year. 10th ranked Wapello beat Louisa-Muscatine 13-4. Columbus over Mediapolis 12-2.

In Prep Baseball it was Burlington over Davenport Central, 6-5. Note Dame shut out Danville 11-zip. Van Buren over New London 11-1. Wapello over Louisa Muscatine, 7-3. Mediapolis blanked Columbus 18-0.

The Chicago Cubs took down the Dodgers, 4-2. Twins overpowered the White Sox 13-2.

Burlington Bees, or, at least five of them, will be playing today in Peoria for the annual Midwest League All-Star Game. The team itself will be off for the All-Star Break until Thursday, when they play Beloit.
