Three Arrested on Meth Charges in Burlington

Three Burlington men have been arrested on Methamphetamine charges following an investigation into illegal drug distribution in the area.

Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force Officials say that they were investigating and gathering evidence that 44 year old James Adam Murphy was trafficking “large quantities” of crystal meth in Burlington.

After conducting surveillance work and several controlled buys, officers obtained a search warrant for Murphy’s residence at 1515 Lincoln Street.

At that residence, large quantities of crystal meth were discovered along with marijuana and US Currency.

Two men at the home other than Murphy were also arrested during the raid. they include 26 year old James David Amos and 50 year old Darrin Carruthers.

Murphy is charged with four counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine, one count of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, and Possession of More than Five Grams of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver. He’s being held on $300,000 bond.

Carruthers and Amos are both charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They’re being held on $1,300 bond.
