The City of Burlington’s new website launched this month, and it’s hoping to prove itself as a much more streamlined experience than the city’s previous online home.
“It launched about two weeks ago. It’s a big redesign of our old website and hopefully a lot more use friendly for the community,” said Annette Crowner, who worked on the website.
The site uses the “Civic Plus” platform, utilized by Des Moines County and the City of Fort Madison.
It includes a much-demanded feature: Online Bill Pay. Crowner says that most bills can now be paid online, for an additional fee. With one notable exception: the water bill.
Burlington Water Works is allegedly unwilling to allow online payments through the city. Councilman Tim Scott had some strong words in that regard.
“We need to put some people in there that want to do that.” Scott added, “That’s ridiculous.”
The new website is at the same address as before: burlingtoniowa.org.
