The man who was wanted in Warren County was Arrested and details of his crimes have been released. According to a press release sent by the Warren County State’s Attorney, 25 year-old Stephan N. Gonzales was taken into custody at 3 p.m. yesterday.
Sister station WGIL in Galesburg reports that Gonzales was wanted for abducting a 32 year-old Monmouth woman from her home, sexually assaulting her and locking her in the back of his car. The woman was able to escape when Gonzales left to get a truck and she ran to a nearby farmhouse and called police.
A Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy was approaching the farmhouse when he saw a pickup truck approaching from a field. The pickup truck entered into a pursuit when the Deputy tried to stop him and the Deputy reported a male driver jumping from the truck and running into a cornfield.
Gonzales is being charged with home invasion, kidnapping and multiple counts aggravated criminal sexual assault. State’s Attorney Chip Algren stated he anticipates additonal charges in the future.
Gonzales was identified by the victim and currently is being held at Warren County Jail pending a court appearance tomorrow.
