Iowa Wesleyan College will now be Iowa Wesleyan University. Or at least, it will next month.

That news coming from IWC president Steve Titus on a message posted to the schools website yesterday.

The Mount Pleasant based four year school will adopt the same name that it went by from 1855 to 1912. Titus says that not only does the name change reflect the school’s historical roots, but also it’s vision moving forward.

The name change comes with student, faculty, and alumni approval. Titus says “Approximately 5,000 surveys were sent and nearly 1,000 responded. Over eighty percent both agreed or strongly agreed that the time was right for Iowa Wesleyan to again become Iowa Wesleyan University.”

The name will officially change on August 10th.
