Mount Pleasant will be heading to the state softball tournament following a win against Assumption at home Tuesday night in the Class 4A regional final, 3-1.
Baseball action it was Notre Dame over Holy Trinity 9-1. West Burlington took down Central Lee 8-6. Burlington wrapped up their regular season with a 9-1 win over Mount Pleasant. Mediapolis beat Durant 1-0 in Class 2A. They move to the district final.
The American League squad came out of Cincinnati a winner in last nights MLB All-Star Game by a score of 6-3. The Angels’ Mike Trout, who led the game off with a home run, won the MVP award for the second year in a row, joining Willie Mays, Steve Garvey, Gary Carter, and Cal Ripken, Jr. as the only 2-time All-Star MVP’s in league history.
