The Purple and Grey Foundation scored a win last night as the Burlington City Council switched the zoning of Bracewell Stadium from Residential to Commercial, allowing an advertisement for Universal Therapy to remain on a sign on the property.
The sign was originally not supposed to have a permanent advertisement, it was added as the result of a design change mid-project.
School district officials were concerned that without a zoning change, they would have to take down the sign.
“Under the [Commercial] designation they can have a billboard on the site…that was their reason for requesting the rezoning,” said Burlington Development Director Eric Tsyland. The sign qualified as a billboard.
The city voted for the change unanimously.
