Death of Iowa Cousins ‘Not a Cold Case’, Police Say

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Investigators continue to try to solve the case of the two Iowa girls whose bodies were found several months after they disappeared in 2012.

Interim Evansdale Police Chief Jeff Jensen tells the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier the department doesn’t consider the deaths a 10-year-old Lyric Cook and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins a cold case.

A full-time investigator is still assigned to the case, and additional officers help out as needed. But no arrests have been made.

Earlier this year, police asked the public for tips about anyone who is familiar with the remote wildlife area where the girls’ bodies were found in December 2012.

The cousins went missing in July 2012 while riding their bikes in Evansdale, Iowa.

Jensen says running down leads in the case is a never-ending process.
