US Congressman Dave Loebsack met with Burlington Constituents as part of a tour of his entire district on Saturday.

Loebsack met one-on-one or in small groups with about 10 voters with a wide variety of concerns at Laura’s Restaurant.

“Folks have the economy on their mind, but it’s beyond that. I talked to someone today about energy…I had someone talk to me about Medicare issues, specifically about medical equipment,” Loebsack said.

Veterans issues and the US Postal Service were also among the issues discussed.

Loebsack also took some time to talk to the press about some of the big issues defining national politics–such as the recent nuclear agreement that the Obama administration made with Iran.

“I’m just very open right now to hearing what different folks say about it. I’d have to make a decision by September,” said Loebsack, “But this is something that I think is really, really critical. The first thing we have to do is make sure that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon. That’s the bottom line.”

He also spoke on immigration and sanctuary cities.

“There was a bill that I voted against on Sanctuary Cities that was totally unacceptable. Not because we shouldn’t have more enforcement of our laws–we should–but the way this law would have worked was that if cities did not cooperate with the federal government, the federal government could have withheld funds that were important to law enforcement,” said Loebsack.

Loebsack also visited with voters in Fort Madison, Keokuk, and Keosauqua.
