Democratic National Committee Announces 2016 Debate in Des Moines

The Democratic National Committee has announced its list of party-sanctioned debates for the candidates competing for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination — and one of them will be in Iowa.

The debate will be held on November 14th in Des Moines. The co-hosts are the Iowa Democratic Party and Drake University. The event will be staged in an auditorium on the Drake University campus. The media co-sponsors are C-B-S News and its local Des Moines affiliate, K-C-C-I, along with The Des Moines Register. It will be the only Democratic candidate debate in Iowa before the Iowa Caucuses.

One of those candidates has been complaining about a lack of debates. Former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley’s staff says having just one debate in Iowa before the Caucuses is departure from the precedent set in the 2008 campaign. There were four debates held in the state eight years ago.
