Obituaries Friday August 7th

Cliff Wilson, 68, of Gladstone, IL, died at 3:00 AM Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born April 4, 1947, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert William and Marcella Abbie Canterbury Wilson. He married Linda Penrose in Burlington.

He had worked at G.E. and Case Fleet Company.

He was a 1964 graduate of Stronghurst High School.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, N.R.A, and President of West Central Music Boosters for five years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved animals, especially his favorite dog, Bo.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilson of Gladstone, IL; four daughters, Brenda Wilson-Danosky of Illinois, Roberta Brown of Florida, and Shelli Wilson and Mackenzie Wilson, both at home; three grandchildren, Juanita Brown, and Wyatt and Madeline Phillis; one brother, Mike Wilson of Burlington; two sisters, Connie (Jerry) Herman and Marcia (Brian) Luers, both of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

There will be no visitation.

The memorial service for Cliff will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 10, 2015, at Christ Episcopal Church with Mother Pat Cashman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Larry F. Myers, 74, of West Burlington, died at 2:08 PM Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 23, 1941, in Blandinsville, IL, he was the son of Glenn Keith and Edith Cook Myers. He married Janice Moore and had two children Larry and David, and later divorced. He married Shirley Miller and had three children Angie, Rhonda, and Larry, and later divorced. He married Leota Ellison. She died in 2010.

Larry worked for Maytag for 32 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, yard work, tinkering with wood working, working on cars, riding motorcycles, and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include two sons, David Myers of Niota, IL, and Larry (Amy) Myers, Jr. of Monmouth, IL; two daughters, Angie Erwin of Peoria, IL, and Rhonda Holdefer of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Douglas, Brittany, Nichole, Garrett, Wyatt, Aidan, and Andy; one great-grandchild, Jordan; two brothers, Mike Myers of Monmouth, IL, Ronnie (Janice) Myers of Dallas City, IL; four sisters, Phyllis (Fred) Bitar of Monmouth, IL, Glenna Grove of Macomb, IL, Janice Smith of LaHarpe, IL, Peggy (Scott) McClain of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Leota, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry, one sister, Pamela, and two brothers, Jack and Gerald Wayne.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

A private Celebration of Life will be held for Mr. Myers at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice House.

Elaine Moser, 94, Burlington died Thursday 8/6 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

She is survived by a son, David Braun of Port Orchard, WA and daughter, Cheryl Johnson of Wever, 2 step-sons, Vincent and Duane Moser of Burlington and 2 step-daughters Sandra Rice and Shelly Whooley of Burlington, a sister, Pauline Clayton of Galesburg and brother, Wendell Kirby of Spokane, WA, 6 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday 8/8 at the Parkside First Baptist Church in Burlington with burial in the Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 5-7 PM Friday. Lunning Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
