Iowa schools struggle to keep textbooks updated following Brandstad’s K-12 Veto

As Iowa students prepare to go back to school later this month, the Sioux City Journal reports that many Iowa schools are now left unable to update Classroom textbooks, thanks to Governor Brandstad’s education funding veto.

no matter what excuse Branstad trots out, the reality is that Iowa schools this year will have fewer resources to support Iowa students…all thanks to the Governor. School districts all across Iowa are now forced to make cuts, meaning Iowa students will pay the price for the Governor’s shameful veto.

School officials were disappointed when Governor Terry Branstad struck down $56 million that state lawmakers had approved for schools to use on one-time projects for the 2015-2016 school year. Some districts, including Sioux city, said they planned to use the money on textbooks and other classroom materials
