IL Man Injured in Clinton Tubing Accident

CLINTON, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a 31-year-old man has been injured in a tubing accident on the Mississippi River near Clinton in eastern Iowa.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. Sunday. The Iowa Natural Resources Department says Kurt Parker, of Fulton, Illinois, and another person were on a tube being pulled by a boat when the rope broke while making a turn. The momentum carried the tube into the rocky shoreline.

Parker was knocked unconscious when thrown onto the shore. He was treated at a Clinton hospital and then flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The other passenger fell into the water before the tube hit the shore and wasn’t injured.
