Obituaries Monday August 17th

Wendy Lynn Starr, 42, of West Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Born on July 16, 1973 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of James D. and Roxie J. Lipper Starr.

Wendy was a production worker in manufacturing. At a young age she enjoyed running track & field. Her children were her future. Wendy enjoyed watching TV shows, crime shows, Roseanne, and Dallas Cowboys football. When attending family gatherings she would always bring her specialty, sugar cookies. She appreciated the beauty of animals, especially cats and tigers.

She is survived by her caring son, Zach Starr of West Burlington, Iowa; her young daughter, Zoey Smith of West Burlington, Iowa; her mother, Roxie Fry of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Kim of Burlington, Iowa; one brother, Shane (Brenda) Starr of Keokuk, Iowa; one half-sister, Brandy Lewis of Burlington, Iowa; six nieces, Celeste, Samantha, Shannon & Sydney Starr, Lexie Fry and special niece that was very close to her, Jami (Jim) Drummer; in-laws, Gary & Melinda Smith of Burlington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at the Large Shelter House near Lake Starker in Crapo Park, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Dean Moberg will officiate. Following the service, a pot luck dinner will be held. Interment will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. in Prugh’s Chapel. A memorial fund has been established for her children’s education.
