West Burlington Students Compete at an International Conference in Ames

Three West Burlington students placed at the International Conference of Future Problem Solving held at Iowa State University in Ames.

Problem solving is in equal proportion to success and three West burlington students prove they have what it takes to succeed at this year’s International Conference of Future Problem Solving, held over the summer, at Iowa State University in Ames.

Athena Moad a tenth grader, Illianna Murphy and Shelby Ryan both sixth graders came home with trophies for placing at the international competition.

Kathy Hendrixson, instructor for the talented and gifted said the topics that the students have to problem solve are real world problems that may become even more serious in the future. This year’s topic at the international competition focused on intellectual property rights. Hendrixson stated that to solve a problem like this can be quite a challenge.
