Democratic Presidential Candidate Martin O’Malley Makes Stop in Keokuk

Democratic Presidential Candidate, Governor Martin O’Malley, made a stop in keokuk, on Saturday, to talk about his 15 outlined goals for improving the American way of life and, why he thinks his strategy is the right path for America.

Governor O’Malley believes that, “Wealth and power have been so tightly concentrated in the hands of so few that it’s literally taking opportunity out of the homes, the wallets and the neighborhoods of the many. Whenever a nation reaches this point in her history, there’s only two paths forward and only two, and only one of them is good. The good path is a sensible, reasonable and intentional rebalancing based on our concern and our care about one another that builds up the common good we share.”

O’Malley touched on each one of the 15 goals during Saturday’s visit, one of which is to implement a comprehensive immigration reform that entails putting eleven million illegal immigrants on the pathway to citizenship. stating that the only sensible thing to do at this point is to give them the right and opportunity to become tax paying citizens.

He also highlighted his track record as Governor of Maryland saying that, “I’m the only one (of the presidential candidates) that actually has 15 years of executive experience, there’s a difference between the saying and the doing.”

Governor O’Malley also pointed out that Maryland ranked #1 for innovation and entrepreneurship for three years in a row, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Maryland also ranked as one of the top three states for economic mobility based on workers’ ability to move up the earnings ladder, according to the Pew Center on the States.

And Maryland achieved a faster rate of job creation than its neighbors Virginia or Pennsylvania, who tried to cut their way to prosperity, and that those are just some of the reasons he was re-elected with 88% of the vote.
