A Fort Madison man was found dead at the bottom of a farm pond in Lee County on Sunday after losing control of his car.
32 year old Michael A. Washington was found inside of his 1996 Oldsmobile after the car was removed from the pond. Police believe that while travelling southbound on 204th Avenue near the intersection of Highway 2, left the roadway, and entered the pond where the vehicle submerged.
The accident occurred several hours before the vehicle was discovered around 11:00 am.
