The woman who initially survived being hit by a train in Mount Pleasant on Sunday has died, according to police, being the death total from this weekends accident to two.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department says a Burlington Northern Rail train struck 31-year-old Thomas Riley and 39-year-old Lelania Gillon at a crossing Sunday morning.
Riley, of Mount Pleasant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gillon, also of Mount Pleasant, was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where she died overnight.
Police say the case remains under investigation.
