Obituaries Friday September 4th

Karl R. Fowler, 76, of New London died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Danville Care Center. Arrangements are pending at Elliott Chapel, New London.

Roxie Jane Fry, 67, died Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born November 4, 1947 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Betty Worrell Lipper. She married William Emerson Fry January 1, 1979; he died November 5, 2010.

Jane was a homemaker. She liked old western movies, being outdoors, playing cards “pitch” and socializing. Jane was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking from scratch. She enjoyed activities with her grandchildren, family and family gatherings.

Jane is survived by her mother, Betty Buxman of Quincy, Illinois; two daughters, Kim (Bill) Garner and Brandy Fry (Tyrone) Lewis, both of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Shane (Brenda) Starr of Keokuk, Iowa; two brothers, Phillip (Sandy) Lipper of Hillsboro, Illinois and Rodney (Roxanne) Lipper of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Suzie (Ervin) Chase of Burlingame, California; eight grandchildren, Lexie, Zach, Jamie, Sydney, Celeste, Samantha, Shannon and Zoey; three great-grandchildren, Alyvia, Jacksen and Avery; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; father; one daughter, Wendy Starr; and one step-daughter.

Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh~Thielen Crematory. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Prugh’s Chapel, 317 N. 4th St. from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment of ashes will be in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The family will also celebrate her life Sunday September 6, 2015 at Crapo Park from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. A memorial has been established in her name.
