The Chicago Cubs won again on the road against rival St. Louis Cardinals 8-5. Cardinals have now dropped five of the last six, but still hold on to the best record in the Major Leagues.

Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2, that snaps a four-game skid for the American League leading Royals.

Chicago White Sox dropped a game to the Cleveland Indians, 7-4.

In tennis, Serena williams beat her sister, Venus Williams, to advance in the US Open in her attempt to win the so-called “Grand Slam” of Tennis, having already won the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon.

The standout Mediapolis High School Graduate who won the starting Quarterback spot for Kansas State University is likely out for the season. Jesse Ertz injured his knee on the very first snap of Saturday’s game against South Dakota, and had to be carted off the field. He did not return, but his team won 34-0.
