Autumn Steele Records Hearing Will Continue

A probe into a January police shooting in Burlington that left one woman dead will continue, following a decision by the Iowa Public Information Board on Thursday in Des Moines. That board will hear complaints filed against several state agencies who have refused to make public information and video related to the investigation.

34 year old Autumn Steele died on January 6th after Burlington Police Officer Jesse Hill shot Steele accidentally while aiming for Steele’s attacking dog and slipping on ice. Steele was involved in a domestic altercation with her husband, Gabriel, at the time, who was holding the couple’s 4 year old son.

The hearing comes at the request of Steele’s family and the Hawk Eye newspaper. Earlier this year, a 12-second video depicting the shooting from the perspective of Officer Hill’s body camera was released to media outlets, however no other evidence pertaining to the investigation as released, despite several requests.
