Keokuk Man Killed in Hancock County Crash

A Keokuk man is dead following a Saturday motorcycle-truck collision on Route 96 and County Road 0 south of Tioga.

Hancock County Sheriff’s officials say that 51 year old Melvin Davis was not wearing a helmet on Saturday afternoon when he attempted to pass two cars while travelling southbound on Route 96 and failed to see a grain truck, driven by 25 year old Rachel Asher of Ursa, Illinois turning right onto County Road 0. Davis struck the truck before carrering off into the ditch.

He died of his injuries after being transported to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Asher was uninjured. The accident occured around 3:41 pm.
