Fort Madison HS Students Arrested After Drugs Found In School

Two Fort Madison High School Students were arrested by Fort Madison Police on Friday after a bag containing marijuana was dropped in the hallway.

Police Chief Bruce Niggemeyer says that the School Resource Officer was informed by staff that they discovered a bag containing the drug and had suspected that it belonged to a 15 year old student.

Police searched the student’s locker and discovered a quantity of Xanax pills, allegedly without a prescription.

Following the discovery of the pills, a K-9 Unit from the Iowa State Penitentiary searched through the school. One of the dogs indicated on a 14 year old students’ backpack. Following a search by school officials, another bag of marijuana was discovered.

The 15 year old student was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. The 14 year old student was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Both were released to their parents.
