Alan “Abe” Drew Washburn, 86 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 12:30 am Wednesday September 23, 2015 at The Madison, Fort Madison, Iowa. Abe was born November 4, 1928 at Edgely, North Dakota, a son of Otis and Wilma (Drew) Washburn. On July 14, 1990, he married Cozette Lay.

He was a 1947 graduate of New London High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked most of his adult life as a farmer and salvage dealer. He also owned and operated Washburn Fabrics in Wever, Iowa. He was a member of the American Legion Post 668 of West Point and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 7641 of New London. Abe enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Cozette Lay, of Fort Madison, Iowa; step-children: Henry (wife Julie) Howell, of Keokuk, Iowa; Rhonda Watson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Darla (husband Daniel) Dunbar, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one sister, Sharon (husband Vernell) Gookin, of Postville, Iowa; several grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Roy Washburn.

His family will greet friends during visitation from 12:00 (noon) to 1:00 pm Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral Services will follow and begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Dan Buck officiating. Burial with full military rites will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Margaret Louis DeCamp, age 96, of Wapello and formerly of rural Muscatine, died Tuesday evening, September 22, 2015, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Clarence M. and Alberta Manley Allen, she was born on September 4, 1919 in rural Louisa County. Margaret married Willard V. DeCamp on September 26, 1945. They farmed in rural Muscatine. She was a homemaker.

Margaret was of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed her friends and neighbors and her family and actively collected all the happenings.

She is survived by four nephews, a niece, a great niece, a sister-in-law, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, a niece, and a great niece.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Island Cemetery, rural Muscatine. Robert Welker will officiate. The family will gather briefly at 1:00 PM at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello prior to processing to the cemetery.

Mr. Gail Walton Logan, 94, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 11:25 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living, Fort Madison, IA. He was born on Decmeber 12, 1920 in Virginia, the son of Clarence Orville and Hazel Nolan Logan. On December 12, 1942 he married Vera Mae Sparrow in Tacoma, WA. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1983. He later married Barbara Howe Walters on March 18, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV.
Gail was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and earlier in life, operated the Lomax Canning Factory along with Lloyd and Beryl Sparrow. Gail loved gardening, hunting and mushrooming. He was a member of the Dallas City Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Stronghurst American Legion for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, two children, Sherrie (Terry Caldwell) Pence of Burlington, IA, and Dennis (Leysa) Logan of Dallas City, three step-children, George (Marlene) Walters of Dallas City, JoAnn (Dan) Flaherty, of Niota, IL, and Ricky Walters of Galesburg, IL, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Leafa Mae Budke of Fort Madison, IA.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and parents.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 25, 2015 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Pastor Doug Clark officiating. Burial, with military rites will follow in the Carman Cemetery, Carman, IL. Friends may call after 4:30 PM on Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Ambulance Service.
