A New Starbucks, Jewelry Store, and More: Burlington City Planner Sheds Light on New Developments

Burlington City Planner Charlie Nichols says a number of new businesses are going to be popping up in town before the end of the year.

Recent construction work in the Burlington Commons plaza that contains Dick’s Sporting Goods and Staples on Agency Street has generated a lot of speculation online about what exactly is going into a new building being built in the parking lot area.

Nichols says that building will house a Starbucks Coffee location as well as a jewelry store. It will be the second Starbucks location in Des Moines County, and the first one in it’s own storefront.

The strip mall facing Roosevelt Avenue in the same development will also be renovated and expanded to accommodate a law office.

Nichols says that rumors of a Panera Bread location in the Commons Development are unconfirmed right now. The original drawing of the Starbucks building included space for a Panera Bread location, however no plans or permits have been filed for a Panera.

The Starbucks is expected to be open before the start of Winter.

Another coffee chain is coming to town. Dunn Brothers Coffee will open on Roosevelt Avenue and Mason Road “within the next couple of weeks”, according to Nichols.
