Ruth Ann Gayewski, 75, of Burlington, died at 2:14 PM Monday, September 28, 2015, at her home.

Born January 31, 1940, in Orange County, NY, she was the daughter of Harold P. and Rose Marie Sherman Miller. She was brought up on a dairy farm, in Warwick, NY. On May 25, 1957, she married John Gayewski in Orange County, NY.

She attended Pine Island School.

Ruth and John moved to Burlington in 1974, where she became a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking ethnic meals, gardening, and was an avid New York Yankee’s Fan.

Survivors include her husband, John Gayewski Sr. of Burlington; two daughters, Nancy Ann Mutchler of West Burlington and Diane Mary (Keith) Ball of Mediapolis; one son, John (Karen) Gayewski, Jr. of Burlington; four brothers, Bruce A. (Phyllis) Miller of Amity, NY, John R. (Betty) Miller of Florida, NY, Gary Miller of Pine Island, NY, and Alan (Bonnie) Miller of Millford, PA; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Eugene Harold Miller, and one sister, Joan Marie Miller.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St.

The funeral service for Mrs. Gayewski will be 10:30 AM Friday, October 2, 2015, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St with Rev. Father Bill Roush officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the family of Ruth Gayewski.

Juanita Lynn Fischer, age 53, of rural Morning Sun, went home to be with the Lord, at 4:19 AM, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington from a courageously fought battle with breast cancer.

Born July 5, 1962, in Davenport, she was the daughter of John and Fran Goethals Brus. She attended school in Walcott, and then graduated from Wapello High School in 1980. She worked as a secretary in an insurance office in Mediapolis, washed dishes in the lunchroom at Mediapolis School, and worked at Newport Subway. She cleaned houses, had her own candle business, and had been a consultant for Creative Memories. Most recently, she farmed and mowed yards.

Juanita married Rob Shipler in 1982. The had two daughters and later divorced. She married Harry Wykert in 1999 and they later divorced. She married Doug Fischer in 2009.

Juanita enjoyed life with Doug, working and being outdoors, cooking, scrapbooking and photography, and especially time with her girls and grandkids.

Her survivors include her husband Doug; two daughters, Kaela Shipler and Becca Shipler both of Burlington; three grandchildren, Payten Claire and Avery Wyatt, and Noah Alan; her parents, John and Fran Brus of Morning Sun; two sisters, Cathy & Bruce Jarvis of Chicago and Michele & Shane Hemphill of Morning Sun; three nieces; a nephew; and many extended family members.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis with Rev. Jeff Kodis officiating. Her wish was to be cremated after the service.

A memorial has been established for her grandkids’ education and Great River Hospice.

The memorial service for Les Brown, 68, will be 10:00 AM Friday at Harmony Bible Church with Pastor Danny Dingus officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh-Thielen Crematory. A memorial has been established.

The celebration of life for Eldean Lyman Anderson, 71, will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the Paddlewheel Lounge in downtown Burlington. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh-Thielen Crematory.

Kyle E. Bunch, 53, Mediapolis died Monday 9/28 at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab in Mediapolis.

He is survived by his mother, CeCelia Bunch of Muscatine, a brother Kirt of Muscatine and special friend, Angela Short of Burlington.

Memorial Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday 10/2 in Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service with burial in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk at a later date.
