Obituaries Tuesday October 6th

Dale William Francy, 83, of New London, died Sunday, October 4 2015 at the New London Specialty Care.

The funeral service for Mr. Francy will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Father Dennis Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, rural New London. Visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday, October 7 at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Memorials have been established to the Bethany Cemetery, and the New London Specialty Center Activity Fund.

Donna Joan Rice Barr, 48, of Danville, died Sunday, October 4, 2015. Services are pending at Elliott Chapel, New London.

Patrick Robert Lawlor, 76, of Burlington, died at 11:59 PM Sunday, October 4, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born December 9, 1938, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Robert John and Frederica Louisa Burghoffer Lawlor. On January 20, 1962, he married Miriam Murphy in Burlington.

Pat retired from Burlington Municipal Waterworks in 2000.

He graduated from Fort Madison High School.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany and a Nike Ajax panel operator in Washington, DC.

He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #568, 4th degree member of Mackin Assembly #261, Cascade Boat Club, past Scout Master of Troop #3 Boy Scouts, and OA Lodge #80 Tribe of the Silver Tomahawk. Pat received the Silver Beaver Award, St. George Award, and Camp Eastman. He enjoyed watching golf, guns, and most of all he cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam Lawlor; one son, Bob (Gwen Lutz) Lawlor of Wyoming, MN; one daughter, Lisa (Joe) Quick of Burlington; four grandchildren, Jordan, Julia, Bailey, and Kaitlin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Mark Lawlor, and one sister-in-law, Jean Lawlor.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 5:00 PM Rosary Service until 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St.

The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Lawlor will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 8, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. John’s Cafeteria following the burial.

A memorial has been established for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
