Gerald W. “Jerry” Smith, 77, of Fort Madison, died at 11:34 AM Sunday, October 4, 2015, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born December 6, 1937, in Pontiac, IL, he was the son of Roy Mann and Bessie B. Graves Smith. On August 3, 1979, he married Emily Kay Delong in Burlington.
Jerry owned Smitty’s Gas Station in Washington IL., and J and J Appliance Service for 45 years.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing cards especially rummy.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Kay Smith of Fort Madison; one son, Mitch (Joni) Smith of Cumming, GA; two daughters, Kristy Dillon of Cedar Rapids and Michelle (Ken) Russell of Burlington; three step-children, Lori (Tom) Rudy of Texarkana, TX, Shawn (Kelly) Kelly of Fort Madison, Chris Kelly of Burlington; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Kim Duque, and one granddaughter Kristal Smith.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2015 where the family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Donna Joan Rice Barr, 48, of Danville, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her home.
Memorial services for Ms. Barr will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Carrie Duncan will officiate. According to her wishes, Ms. Barr has been cremated and inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial has been established.
Jay Lee Smith, 68, Burlington died Mon 10/5 at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Selman of Burlington, a son, Corey Mumme of Mount Pleasant, stepson Tim Waeyaert of Moline, 2 daughters, Amy Blakeman of West Burlington and Julie Smith of Burlington, 2 sisters, Amy Jones of Mount Pleasant and Tara Kalar of Burlington, 11 grandchildren and 1 great gandchild.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lunning Chapel Sat 10/10 at 10 AM with burial in the Aspen Grove Cemetery.
