Teen Rammed Stolen Car Into Police Car in Urbandale

ALTOONA, Iowa (AP) — A 16-year-old Urbandale boy has been charged after police say he rammed a police car with a stolen vehicle in Polk County.

According to a news release from the Altoona Police Department, the suspect faces charges of assault with a weapon, first-degree theft, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

Officers say they responded to reports of a reckless driver Sunday night. Police said the vehicle being driven had been reported stolen in Des Moines.

According to authorities, when police turned on their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver sped into the driver’s side of the patrol car, pushing about 10 feet down the street. No injuries were reported.
