Obituraries Monday October 12th

R. Jane Carnes, age 79 of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away at 6:37 a.m. Saturday October 10, 2015 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday October 14, 2015 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.

Michael F. Prior, 59, of Davenport, died at 3:35 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015, at his home in Davenport, Iowa.

Born October 31, 1955, in Burlington, he was the son of Francis Xavier and M. Kathleen “Kay” Riffel Prior. On October 10, 2001, he married Verna Louise Armstrong in West Burlington, Iowa.

Michael worked at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 35 years.

He graduated from Burlington Notre Dame High School and the University of Northern Iowa.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf and the Knights of Columbus Council #568. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He also enjoyed spending time with “his dogs”, reading and playing pool.

Survivors include his wife, Verna of Davenport; his mother, Kay Prior of West Burlington; four sisters, Peg Speed of Burlington, Teresa (Bob) Prior-Curry Bothel, WA, Kathleen Prior of Stevens Point, WI, and Carol (Jeff) Wheeler of Altoona, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and three sisters, Mary Prior, Beth Prior and Barbara Woodsmall.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Prior will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Rev. Father David G. Steinle as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in St. Mary’s Parish Center following the burial.

A memorial has been established for the Quad City Animal Welfare Center 724 2nd Ave. W, Milan, IL 61264.
