Fort Madison Schools Locked Down After Shooting Threat

Schools in Fort Madison were on perimeter lockdown yesterday after receiving information from Fort Madison Police about a threat against the schools.

Parents were informed in a short statement by District Officials that third-hand information given to Fort Madison police indicated that someone had threatened to shoot up one of the school buildings.

District Superintendent, Dr. Kenneth Marang, ordered all buildings to perform a perimeter lockdown while police investigate the threat.

District officials emphasized that there was no active threat, and that students are safe.

A student was detained last week after making a similar threat against the school. No word on whether or not the two instances were related.
