Obituaries Wednesday October 14th

Betty McCannon, 88, of Burlington, died at 8:30 PM Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.

Born July 4, 1927, in Phillipsburg, MO, she was the daughter of George and Lova Stone Tait. She married James Hendrix; they later divorced. On December of 1953, she married Fred McCannon in Burlington. He died April 15, 1980.

Betty worked production for Winegard for many years and as a cook for a local daycare.

She was a member of the West Burlington Christian Church. She was an animal lover, especially basset hounds and cats. She enjoyed solving puzzles and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (John) Jaeger of Burlington; three sons, Michael (Kathy) McCannon of Burlington, Bob (Wanda) Hendrix of Lebanon, MO, and David (Judy) Hendrix of Sleeper, MO; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carolyn Morris of MO.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one step-son, Wayne McCannon; one brother Bill Tait; and one sister Peg Boales.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St.

The graveside committal service for Mrs. McCannon will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Carman Cemetery with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. A memorial has been established for the Alzheimer’s Association.
