Man Wanted For August Shooting Arrested in Illinois

A man wanted for a shooting that took place in August in Burlington has been arrested in Illinois.

The Dalton, Illinois Police Department took Dwayne Grady Jefferson Jr. , age 21, into custody on several Des Moines County, Iowa warrants following an August 23rd shooting in which Jefferson allegedly fired shots at a fleeing car after a fight at a party.

On August 23 at approximately 3:56am, officers were dispatched to the 300 Angular housing complex in response to a complaint of shots being fired. Officers later located a vehicle that had evidence that it had been struck by recent gunfire.

Investigation revealed that a party had taken place in the 300 Angular complex in which Jefferson had allegedly physically assaulted several of the partygoers. As those victims attempted to flee from Jefferson, witnesses indicate that he produced a handgun and fired several rounds at a vehicle attempting to leave. Jefferson then fled the area on foot.

No one was injured in the shooting.

He’s charged with Going Armed With Intent, Possession of a Firearm By A Felon, two counts of Intimidation With a Dangerous Weapon in connection with the shooting, and also on Obstruction of Communication, Wanton Neglect of a Minor, Assault, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Absent From Custody, and two counts of Probation Violation.
