The Chicago Cubs are going to have to try to do something that hasn’t been done since the Red Sox did it back in 2004–win the next four straight games in the National League Championship Series after losing last night and dropping to 0-3 in their series against the New York Mets. The Mets won again last night, beating Chicago at Wrigley Field 5-3.
Kansas City Royals had better luck, winning game four against the Toronto Blue Jays 14-2. They’re within one game of advancing to the World Series.
In prep Volleyball, Notre Dame walked away with a win in a sweep over Winfield-Mount Union in the first round of the regional championships. New London beat Fairfield Maharishi. West Burlington beat Danville. Holy Trinity beat Harmony
In their regular season finale, Burlington fell to first-ranked Bettendorf. Fort Madison beat Washington in four games.
And in NHL action the St. Louis Blues fell to Montreal, 3-0.
