Gov. Chris Christie Plans to Spend More Time in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be in Iowa more as the leadoff presidential caucuses draw closer.

It’s a shift after months of focusing heavily on New Hampshire. Christie has struggled to gain traction in the 2016 Republican primary and has camped out in New Hampshire in recent months.

But he says from now on, he’ll split time evenly between the two states.

His campaign also tells The Associated Press that Christie is beefing up his staff in the state. He’ll open his first office soon in suburban Des Moines.

Christie has strong relationships in the state. But early polling has remained in the low single digits.
