The Chicago Cubs did not fulfill the Back to the Future Prophecy this year and have fans looking forward to next year after losing the the New York Mets again last night, knocking the Cubs out of Championship Contention. Mets won 8-3 to win the pennant.
The Kansas City Royals also lost a game in the American League Championships, so they’ll be heading back home from Canada to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in a series split at 3-2. Blue Jays won last night 7-1.
Prep Football kicks off tomorrow. Burlington will face Cedar Rapids Washington, Keokuk hosts Davis County, Fort Madison hosts Mount Pleasant, Central Lee travels to Highland, Mediapolis visits Mid-Prairie, Wapello hosts Bellevue, Columbus hosts Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Van Buren hosts Cardinal, Danville travels to WACO, New London hosts Lone Tree, Winfield Mount Union hosts Pekin. Harmony High School hosts Twin Cedars in 8-man. It will be the last football game Harmony High School ever plays as it prepares to begin a whole-grade sharing agreement with Van Buren.
