Police: Drunk, Shotgun-Wielding Man Arrested

A man who was arrested after allegedly drunkenly walking the streets of Burlington with a shotgun early Saturday morning is now facing weapon and drug charges.

At 12:08 am, 39 year old Anthony Maurice Walls, of Burlington, was sighted by a passerby while standing on the corner of Agency and Curran streets holding a shotgun in his hand. When police arrived, Walls was walking South in the 200 Block of Curran street.

Police ordered Walls to drop his weapon and surrender. Walls allegedly told police that “He wasn’t going to drop anything” and continued to walk.

Police continued to follow Walls until they confronted him once again in the backyard of a Curran Street home. Walls had disposed of the shotgun between the two interactions with police and was taken into custody without further incident.

Police discovered a bag containing individually-wrapped baggies of what is believed to be crack cocaine on the ground near Walls. They also found the loaded shotgun Walls was carrying lying underneath a parked car.

Walls is charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell, Carrying Weapons, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
