Coon Rapids Artists Arranges 150 Area Residents into the Shape of the Great River Bridge

Over 150 area residents got to build the Great River Bridge again on Sunday as a Coon Rapids artist arranged them into the shape of Burlington’s iconic bridge as a human art installation.

It was called the “People Project”.

“Well, we’re kind of tying community together with public art. We’re raising awareness of arts in the community, and we’re having fun doing it…” said artist Chad Elliott. “We’re also celebrating a symbol of the community and we thought the bridge would be a great big symbol right in front of us.”

Elliott has done similar projects in Okoboji. After arranging participants into the shape of the bridge, Elliot was raised up in a crane in order to take pictures, prints of which are available at the Artist’s Market in the Art Center.
