Gunman Dead After Quad Cities Shooting Incident

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Police say a man has killed himself outside an Bettendorf business, shortly after officers responded to shots fired at another location where two people received minor injuries.

Bettendorf police spokeswoman Lauran Haldeman says a male suspect died Monday afternoon from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been standing in the parking lot of a business when he saw officers and fired one round into his head.

The shooting came after police in neighboring Davenport responded to reports of shots fired at a law firm. It is located in a building that also houses a military recruiting center.

Haldeman says the recruiting office was not “the target” in the incident, but she did not elaborate.
