Fort Madison High School Student Detained on Drug Charges

A Fort Madison female High School student was detained after school officials noticed she displayed behavior consistent with narcotic drug impairment, further investigation of the matter revealed that she gave two other students narcotic drugs during class.

On Tuesday, October 27th, the Fort Madison School resource officer, Brent Gibbs, was notified of a female juvenile that was suspected to be under the influence of a narcotic drug while at the Fort Madison High School.

An investigation revealed two other female juveniles were brought to the nurse’s office displaying visible signs of impairment. Officers learned that one of the females was in possession of a narcotic drug known as (Xanax) and had distributed the drug to two other students in class.

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force was contacted and detained a 16 year old female student for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance.

Both charges are aggravated misdemeanors. The juvenile was released to the custody of her parents.
